AnDevCon 2012 Recap: Geek talk and Droid Bots

The Droid Bot came out to play at this year’s Android Developers Conference, thanks to Intel, who hosted a variety of photo ops for developers, engineers, marketers and Android lovers alike eager to talk tech. Tapjoy took center stage as you entered the show with its wide open booth and big red stations to allow you to discover the latest and greatest in Android apps.

Big attractions were the variety of workshops ranging from monetization, security and developer essentials for Android. A discussion led by Blake Meike on concurrency in Android was a very popular session with visitors jam packed eager to hear more on the challenges surrounding Android’s three main concurrency tools, how to use them and challenges with each.

A few from our team were able to snag some signed reading material on Learning Android from Marko and Aleksander Gargenta and Building Embedded Linux Systems from Karim Yaghmour.

Despite no major gadget announcements, there was plenty of swag to be had from cool geeky t-shirts to bumble-bee Bot cookies, and mobile HD games- not to mention the winners circle where attendees took away gifts ranging from $100 gift cards (thanks to yours truly) to Smartwatches from Sony. Overall, a great place to connect with Android enthusiasts and tech lovers alike. I’m looking forward to next year’s show!
