“Everybody’s Moving to metro” – Ping too!

We’re pleased to announce that Ping!, our integrated social media and messaging app  is now available for download at the @Metro App Store!

The push-based social messaging app can be downloaded here.  Ping can currently be downloaded on the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G (R920) with support for more devices to follow. This marks our first carrier partnership for the Ping app.

The carrier version of the app is an expansion on the free download available in the Google Play store to every Android user worldwide   At metroPCS and with the version now available on the @MetroAppStore, Ping integrates with the mobile email application from SEVEN Networks which has been embedded on metroPCS devices for several years.

Again, Ping is aimed at helping wireless carriers bring their messaging services into today’s social age with SEVEN’s first text chat functionality, a carrier–deployable service that is integrated with other forms of messaging. This gives wireless carriers an opportunity to participate in a hot market now dominated by start–ups and social networking companies but also deploy a chat application which is, by design, friendly to the network and does not create a signaling storm.

We’re excited to be working with metroPCS and can’t wait to hear what you all think about the carrier version of the app, so please let us know in the comments below!

Our Ping social messaging app is on fire in the Android Market and we’re pleased to announce that the app is now available for download at the @Metro App Store as well and can be downloaded here.  Ping is currently available on the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G and support for more devices already in market will follow. This marks our first carrier partnership for Ping.

The carrier version of the app is an expansion on the free download available in the Android Market to every Android user worldwide, which has received great feedback from users including telecom analyst Peter Jarich who tweeted, ‘Finally got some time to play with Ping. Nice work.”.  At metroPCS and with the version now available on the metroPCS app store, Ping integrates with the mobile email application from SEVEN Networks which has been embedded on metroPCS devices for several years.

This gives wireless carriers an opportunity to participate in a hot market now dominated by start–ups and social networking companies but also deploy a social messaging app which can be fully optimized to minimize signaling and bandwidth consumption on the carrier’s network.
