The launch of our breakthrough new Open Channel mobile traffic optimization technology created a lot of anticipation going into Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Customers were interested. The press and analysts were interested. So, too, were the judges of the GSMA Global Mobile awards.
Aside from the first public demonstration of this technology, SEVEN’s presence at MWC was highlighted when Open Channel was awarded the GSMA Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough. The award recognizes the contributions made by mobile operators, manufacturers and suppliers to increase mobile usage and expand both user experiences and business opportunities.
SEVEN President and CEO Ross Bott was there to accept the award, which was one of 26 award winners culled from 600 entries.
SEVEN’s Open Channel technology comes during a time of heavy network congestion when applications such as Facebook, Twitter and email send info requests to servers that consume significant network bandwidth and signaling resources. Open Channel reduces data consumption by smartphones and other mobile devices by up to 70 percent, which also extends device battery life.
